‘Renting Redefined: Resident Preferences Reshaping the Next Generation of Rental Communities’ discussed how resident preferences have changed post-pandemic. This presentation looked at the NMHC/ Grace Hill Renter preferences survey which features the trends developers, owners and operators are watching. Brian Oates, Executive Managing Director of Development at RangeWater Real Estate, Margette Hepfner, Chief Operating Officer at Lincoln Property Company, Yat-Pang Au, Chief Executive Officer at Veritas Investments were speakers, and the discussion was moderated by Sarah Yaussi, Vice President of Business Strategy at NMHC.
Another important panel discussion was ‘Build-to-Rent: NMHC Executive Dialogue on the Potential of the Homebuilding Rental Market’, which looked at the single-family home rental market and the opportunity for portfolio diversification this offers to multifamily owners and operators. The panel included Telly Fathaly, Managing Director at Walker & Dunlop, Jim Schloemer, Chairman & CEO at Continental Properties, Inc., and Mary Trevino, Managing Director-Multifamily Development at Hines. The panel was moderated by Kristina Garcia, Multifamily Capital Markets at Cushman & Wakefield.
